Who's Hiring Hardest

One name towers over the rest: Bespoke Labs, with 150 open roles — many of them Machine Learning Engineer positions in the US. After that, demand spreads across finance, consulting, defense, and education:

  • Capital One (55) — including Lead Machine Learning Engineer roles
  • IU Internationale Hochschule (35, plus 17 under its GmbH entity) — heavy on AI-focused degree and academic positions
  • SonderMind (31) and Tata Consultancy Services (26)
  • Reply Deutschland and Lieferando (20 each), Jobgether (19), Mindrift (17)
  • Booz Allen Hamilton (17) and Lockheed Martin (15) — signaling steady defense-sector demand

Notably, big tech (Google, AWS, Citi, Airwallex) appears in the sample roles but not the top-volume list — these firms hire selectively rather than in bulk.

The Roles in Demand

Three titles repeat across every region: Machine Learning Engineer, Data Scientist, and Generative AI Engineer/Architect. GenAI is clearly the growth edge — listings like "Generative AI Platform Onboarding Lead" (Citi), "Generative AI Strategist" (AWS), and "Software Engineer, Generative AI" (Google Maps) show companies building dedicated GenAI functions, not just bolting AI onto existing teams.

Regional flavor matters:

  • Europe leans toward consulting and architect roles (SThree, Randstad, Haufe), with German-language postings common (m/w/d).
  • US skews toward core engineering and enterprise AI tooling (Capital One, Airwallex, Burlington).
  • India is rich in GenAI and ML architecture roles at services firms (Tech Mahindra, Quantiphi, Coherent).

What It Means for You

If you're an ML engineer, breadth is on your side — the title appears in nearly every region and company tier. If you're targeting GenAI specifically, expect newer, strategy- and platform-oriented roles where shaping the function is part of the job. Consulting and recruitment-agency listings are abundant in Europe, useful for fast entry.
