The hyperscaler chip war widens

Memory, storage, and China's roadmap

At Computex 2026, Micron showed off the 9650, which ServeTheHome describes as the company's first PCIe Gen6 solid-state drive built for data centers — a sign of how fast storage is racing to keep up with AI workloads. The cold, quantum frontier

Finally, a quieter but growing theme: preparing for what comes after today's chips. Microsoft is accelerating its plans to shield systems against the threat quantum computers pose to encryption, according to Tech Edition. And the race toward faster chips and workable quantum machines is lifting demand for infrastructure almost no one thinks about — the cooling systems that keep hardware extremely cold. Helium cooling, per Independent reporting, is set to boom by 2035.
