The hardware feeding the AI boom is starting to reshape the wider electronics market — and ordinary buyers may feel it.

According to Tech Times, AI chip imports have now eclipsed shipments of PCs and phones, even as a memory shortage squeezes consumers. In other words, the components going into AI data centers are outpacing the traditional gadgets that once dominated the supply chain, and that imbalance is tightening what's left over for everyone else.

The center of gravity sits with South Korea's memory giants. Tom's Hardware reports that Samsung and SK Hynix are set to announce massive deals with leading U.S. tech firms, with the Korean president arriving in Silicon Valley for meetings and a high-profile AI summit. Separately, Blocks & Files describes SK Hynix working with chip startup Etched on so-called Frontier inference clusters — hardware aimed specifically at running AI models.

At the same time, the memory supply chain is shifting in ways that could matter down the line. Tom's Hardware reports that Gigabyte has announced official support for Chinese-made CXMT memory, pushing it to 8,200 MT/s on the Socket AM5 platform. The publication calls the performance impressive and welcomes the official backing, but flags an open question: whether anyone can actually buy the modules.

Taken together, the sources sketch a market being reorganized around AI. Demand for the specialized chips and memory that power AI systems is diverting supply and, per Tech Times, driving shortages that reach consumers — while new suppliers like China's CXMT hint at a slowly diversifying, and still uncertain, memory landscape.
