Anthropic has once again delayed the paywall on Claude Fable 5, its flagship AI model, extending free access for paid subscribers through July 19, 2026.
According to Free Press Journal, this is the third extension since Fable 5 launched in June. The Indian Express reports that Anthropic had originally planned to limit included access through July 7, while CyberSecurityNews notes the latest move pushes the cutoff from July 12 to July 19.
The extension applies to paid Claude plans — Pro, Max, and Team — according to Republic World, with the Indian Express adding that premium Enterprise subscribers were covered under the earlier terms. Beyond just more time, several outlets including The Times of India and Republic World report the promotion comes with increased weekly usage limits and boosted Claude Code usage at no extra cost.
The reception has been mixed. Free Press Journal reports that while users welcomed the extra access, many criticised the repeated last-minute deadline changes. Financial Express frames the extensions as Anthropic managing its compute limits while facing competitive pressure from OpenAI.
The timing is notable. Tech Times reports that news of the latest extension surfaced alongside a leak of Anthropic's next model, Opus 5, appearing in the Cursor coding tool, suggesting the company's lineup is moving quickly.
