Bear Robotics, a robotics company based in Redwood City, has agreed to acquire Kinisi Robotics in a deal the company says completes its end-to-end "Physical AI" platform.
According to The Robot Report, the acquisition brings Kinisi's KR1 humanoid robot, its Bristol-based engineering team, and its physical AI capabilities into Bear Robotics. The deal's financial terms were not disclosed in the available reports.
The strategic logic centers on a capability Bear says it was missing: manipulation. As described in coverage carried by Yahoo Finance, Kinisi adds the "manipulation AI layer" that completes Bear's multi-robot platform — extending the company's already-deployed fleet from moving and delivering items to handling physical work itself. In plain terms, Bear's robots have been good at getting things from one place to another; Kinisi's technology is meant to let them actually pick up, hold, and work with objects.
The phrase "Physical AI" refers to artificial intelligence that operates in the real world through robots, rather than living purely on screens or in software.
