Singapore-based dConstruct Robotics has closed a $125 million Series A funding round, according to Duc Dao writing for TNGlobal (as aggregated by Techmeme).
The company builds what's known as spatial technology — software and systems that let autonomous robots operate in complex, GPS-denied environments. In plain terms, that means places where the satellite signals most navigation relies on simply don't reach or aren't reliable: think inside buildings, underground, or around dense industrial infrastructure. Without GPS, a robot needs another way to understand where it is and what's around it, and that is the problem dConstruct is working on.
TNGlobal reports that the raise stands out as a notable achievement for the company, which is also referred to as dConstruct Technologies in the reporting.
A Series A is typically one of a startup's first major rounds of institutional investment, so a figure of $125 million at this stage is unusually large. It signals that investors see meaningful potential in the market for robots that can work in settings where conventional positioning tools fail.
