Nvidia is moving deeper into robotics with the launch of Halos for Robotics, which the company describes as a "comprehensive safety system" for humanoid robots designed to operate alongside people.
The AI chipmaker, better known for the processors powering the current artificial intelligence boom, calls Halos a full-stack safety platform. According to The Robot Report, Nvidia says the system connects AI compute, system software, sensor data, safety applications, and inspection for robotic systems — in other words, it spans the hardware and software layers that a working robot relies on.
Nvidia is positioning the product as a milestone for the field. As reported by AiThority, the company is billing Halos as the industry's first full-stack safety system for "physical AI," the term used for AI that acts in the real world rather than just on a screen.
The launch already has a customer. Nvidia said Agility, a humanoid robotics and physical AI company, is the first to adopt Halos for Robotics, according to Morningstar (via Dow Jones). Agility plans to use the system for its humanoid robots deployed in factories and warehouses.
The announcement drew wide coverage, with Axios, Quartz and the Los Angeles Times all framing the news around the same core goal: making humanoid robots safer to work near humans.
Why it matters: as humanoid robots move from demos into real factories and warehouses, the question of whether they can safely share space with human workers becomes central — and Nvidia is betting that supplying the safety layer, not just the chips, will help it shape that market.
