Nvidia is pushing to establish an 800-volt electrical standard for AI infrastructure, a move that analysts say could reshape which companies supply the power systems behind next-generation data centers, according to Moomoo.

Traditionally, data center power distribution has operated at lower voltages. A shift to 800V — a threshold more commonly associated with electric vehicles than server farms — would allow more power to be delivered with less energy lost to heat, and with thinner, lighter cabling. As AI workloads demand ever-larger clusters of chips running at extreme power densities, the old electrical architectures are straining to keep up.

The push is drawing attention to a subset of infrastructure suppliers — firms that make switchgear, bus bars, power distribution units, and related electrical components — that would need to retool or scale up to meet an 800V spec, according to the Moomoo analysis.

Nvidia's influence over the data center supply chain is already substantial. When the chipmaker sets a technical preference, hyperscalers and colocation providers tend to follow, which means a voltage standard backed by Nvidia carries real commercial weight for component makers up and down the stack.

If 800V becomes the de facto standard for AI infrastructure, it could trigger a wave of capital spending on upgraded electrical systems — making power-delivery suppliers a quiet but significant beneficiary of the AI buildout.
