Quantum computing pushed forward on several fronts at once, with news spanning government funding, corporate partnerships, a stock-market debut and fresh research.

On the funding side, D-Wave is set to receive a $1.5 million grant from the National Science Foundation aimed at strengthening U.S. quantum computing leadership, according to Pulse 2.0.

The field is also drawing serious commercial interest. According to eeNews Europe, French bank Crédit Agricole and quantum firm Pasqal are expanding a strategic partnership. Separately, Investing.com reported that Pasqal's CEO said a deal with oil giant Aramco shows quantum computing is "moving from research to reality." Barchart.com noted that one publicly traded quantum firm, described as the only public "neutral atom" company, received an Outperform rating.

A notable corporate milestone: IQM Quantum Computers completed a business combination with Real Asset Acquisition Corp., and its shares and warrants began trading on the Nasdaq on July 2, 2026, per a GlobeNewswire release. The two had signed their combination agreement in February 2026.

Researchers are advancing the underlying science too. A study from UNSW Sydney used a "quantum cat" strategy to reduce errors and speed up computation, according to reporting carried by Yahoo. The Quantum Insider reported that researchers used IBM quantum hardware to model a key particle physics process, while AZoQuantum said QuiX Quantum outlined a path to universal photonic quantum computing using logical qubits. Physics World explored how to "fast-forward" a quantum simulation, and the University of Texas at Austin highlighted its growing quantum research ecosystem.

Looking ahead, Fujitsu Global framed 2030 as the target year for practical quantum computing.
