Enflame
Shanghai Enflame Technology Co. is a Chinese artificial intelligence chip designer, commonly known by its Chinese nickname "Little Dragon," that develops GPU-class accelerators aimed at large-scale AI training and inference workloads. Backed by internet giant Tencent Holdings, the company is among a cohort of domestic Chinese chipmakers working to fill the gap left by restricted access to leading U.S.-made AI semiconductors.
Enflame has drawn attention as part of China's broader push for self-sufficiency in advanced computing hardware. Its Tencent backing gives it both deep-pocket investment and a built-in potential customer for its chips, an advantage in a capital-intensive market where proving real-world deployability is critical.
In a significant milestone, Enflame received regulatory approval to list on a Shanghai stock exchange, with plans to raise in the range of several hundred million dollars — one of the larger AI chip IPOs in China. The listing positions Enflame as a publicly scrutinized benchmark for China's homegrown AI chip industry at a time when domestic semiconductor development carries both commercial and strategic importance.
